  • To develop skills and knowledge in drawn formal elements, completing an observational drawing of a mechanical bug.

  • To explore the use of formal elements in 2d medium (including pencil, ink and wash and collage).

  • To discover and research the codes and conventions of observational drawing and monoprinting.

  • To extend literacy and ICT in art – linking to pupil’s historical research (artists including Maria Sibylla Merian & Mike Libby).

  • To understand how to draw observationally, using primary and secondary sources and visualise in a final artwork/artworks.

  • 2D mark making skills and how to use these effectively.

  • Evaluate and discuss learning.

  • To develop skills and knowledge in drawn formal elements, completing an observational drawing of a portrait.

  • To explore the use of formal elements in 2d medium (including pencil, oil pastel and collage).

  • To discover and research the codes and conventions of observational drawing and portraiture.

  • To extend literacy and ICT in art – linking to pupil’s historical research (Cubism).

  • To understand how to draw observationally, using primary sources and visualise in a final artwork/artworks.

  • 2D mark making skills and how to use these effectively.

  • Evaluate and discuss learning.

  • To develop skills and knowledge in 2D and 3D form and use these to create artworks based on the human figure.

  • To explore formal elements in a range of medium.

  • To discover and research historical and contemporary culture, through a range of figure artists, illustrators and animators.

  • To extend literacy and ICT in art – linking to pupil’s artist research.

  • To understand how to show shape and form in the human figure and visualise in a final artwork.

  • 3D form and 2D forms and how to use this effectively.

  • Evaluate and discuss learning.
